Another hike

Continuing my attempts to go out more and explore the nearby trails, I went on another hike back on August 17th. I picked a more shady trail because of the heat, so this one is more wooded, but also more steep. It was a shorter trail than I expected, compared to my expectations from the google map view, but pretty vigorous and I would totally revisit this again in the future. The incline all the way to the top was a really good amount of exercise.

I went this time with my trusty 20mm, paired with my Black Pro-Mist filter. I finally used my polarizer (CPL) filter, for better vibrant colors, and I’m pretty happy with the results.

The only downside with the CPL is the one I got didn’t have enough lip on the outside to fit a clip-on cover. I bought this 49mm filter along with the same size UV filter from Tiffen, and is one of my newbie purchasing mistakes I regret1. After this poor experience, I went home and bought a much cheaper used CPL off eBay that I made sure worked with clip-on covers.

As seen in the photo above, the sky and mountains turned out really deep, which was exactly what I wanted. I don’t mind the vignetting (Prof Shene2 had warned about that).

I took a few more shots when I got near the top of the trail.

I went with another friend, and after we continued back down, we took a stroll in the town nearby and browsed their downtown shops. I ended up buying a reusable dryer ball with a cute lavender art stitched on. I hope it can help my bedding from getting twisted in the dryer.

Footnotes
  1. I also bought a pair of 40.5mm filters to go with my kit lens which I also regret; both the lens and the filters… ↩︎
  2. See previous post on Cokin filters. ↩︎
