Spring portrait

Back in the first weekend of April, I went back to Filoli with a friend hoping to catch the wisterias for a photoshoot. Unlike SCU, the weather in Filoli meant we were too early for the wisterias, which were in bloom, but not enough.

Since we made the trip out to Filoli specifically for photos, we made the best of it and used the other flowers and trees. All-in-all, in hindsight this was a very successful trip. I took a lot of photos and many of them came out really well.

The weather was lovely. I brought my X-T3 paired with a 56mm lens, and some cokin filters for fun. The bright sun made the filters really glow.

I won’t share any of the pretty portraits I shot of my friend, but here’s one with her not in focus for an idea of what sort of photos I took.

After getting enough regular photos, I put on both the sunsoft and pastel filters for fun. Some examples below:

This was actually the first time I got a “model” for a shoot with the specific purpose to photographing said person. It was a lot of fun, and I really felt my improvement. I don’t think I could’ve taken these last year.

I’m looking forward to shooting more portraits in the future and improving my skills.
