Wisteria season

This catches up to the last backlog from March. I revisited Santa Clara University to both test out my camera and also to play around with my cokin filters.

For balance, since I’ve been using my Fujifilm X-E1 far more frequently, I bought a used Sony A6400 to have a viewfinder and to recommit myself to Sony lol.

I also wanted to scope out the wisterias in SCU for an upcoming photoshoot. I ended up coming to the conclusion that it was not going to work for what I had envisioned, but overall it was a good exercise.

The wisterias were located too high for a good backdrop, and a lot of people were around for photos of their babies held up to the flowers. It was a beautiful day for photos.

A side-by-side of similar subjects without my favorite cokin filter (sunsoft) and with the filter.

I think these two shots of the wisteria had a pastel filter. I used a 50mm auto-focus lens this time, and some of the cokin filters I played around with (like center spot) prevented the auto focus from properly working. I hadn’t considered this issue before because last time I was using manual focus Minolta lens.

This one was with a blue filter and a -2 on exposure. I had heard it would be a good way to simulate night time, which I don’t think was too effective. I might try it again under difference conditions (this day was really sunny).

If it isn’t too obvious yet, I really like closeups of flowers.
